Dress up your Blackberry or iPhone with Palm webOS themes

Can't wait for the Pre to arrive, but want to give your iPhone or Blackberry Storm a makeover? Below are a couple ways on how to do just that. Although the cards functionality found in the discontinued TealOS skin for Palm OS devices was not reproduced, could Palm still take an issue with these kinds of webOS imitators?

The iPhone theme gives you the same background photo from the Pre, as well as 29 icons (editable PNGs), with more to come. PalmAddicts has the scoop on how to install it:

  • First off, download the Pre theme and the Live Weather icon to your computer.
  • You're gonna either need to SSH into your phone or use DiskAid (this is easier)
  • Open DiskAid and navigate to Root Folder > Library > Themes and copy the Palm Pre folder.
  • Go into your phone and open up Winterboard, select Pre.
  • Press the home button.

Along the same vein, EverythingPre reports on a new BlackBerry Storm theme, which emulates the look and feel of webOS. The new "PreBerry" theme includes icons styled after the Pre, and even imitates the distinctive Palm "wave" launcher. A few of the features are listed below:

  • Big Today Plus Area Giving Loads Of Information
  • 7 x Customizable Icons On The Main Screen (The Top Four And Ribbon Can Be Hidden)
  • Custom Menus and Dialogs
  • All New Iconset Especially Designed To Emulate What We Know Of The Pre So Far
  • Updates Promised As New Information Comes Out On This Great Looking Device

UPDATE: Another "Palm inspired iPhone theme" has surfaced, and the Palm Pre Blog has info on how to get it. Click the image for the jump.
